There is a common misconception that budgeting and forecasting fall solely within the purview of the accounts team or CFO, but this is not the case. It requires collective effort and input from all corners of the company. Additionally, it’s crucial to recognise the distinction between budgeting and forecasting. Ultimately, a robust forecasting process serves to bridge strategic planning with the uncertainties inherent in business operations.

Silvan has been involved in various sectors of the economy from telecommunications, financial services and also manufacturing, holding various managerial and directorship roles. Silvan is a Director for Advisory Services at EMCS Ltd: he specialises in advising family organisations on their strategy formulation, corporate governance, internal culture, operational processes & structuring, financial performance analysis and sourcing their financing needs.

Silvan has extensive experience in training and coaching business leaders. He currently holds the post of Chairperson of the Family Business Committee within the Malta Chamber of Commerce.
